Fans fears compounded

Following the sending off of Craig Taylor and the injury of Steve Woods, Torquay are contemplating the introduction of inexperienced loan duo Gareth Owen and Matt Villis for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

With Taylor receiving a straight red card, he will have to serve an immediate three match suspension while Woods injured his groin and should have come off in the 3-0 home defeat against Hull City.

Woods should recover by Saturday, however the lack of experienced cover for the United back four has led to some sections of the fans questioning why this was not foreseen.

Owen looks set to make his debut on Saturday, but who will play alongside him? Perhaps Matt Hockley will drop back into defence, allowing for a little more creativity in the midfield, either with Fowler moving into the centre to partner Alex Russell and Martin Phillips onto the wing, or new signing Bruno Meireles starting his first ever Football League game.

One thing is for sure, a little strentgh in depth is required.
