Gareth Owen returns to Stoke Earlier than Expected
Loan signing Gareth Owen has returned to Stoke City before his three month loan period has expired.United boss Leroy Rosenior explained that he was not gaining any first team experience at United and felt it only fair that he return to Stoke to get an opportunity to develop with a loan to another club.
This leaves United with only one back up defender for the centre of defence, which is Matt Villis, on loan from Plymouth, although Lee Canoville could move inside in an emergency and Tony Bedeau move back to right back where he had a good start to the season.
The wisdom of this move will be seen should United pick up any more injuries or suspensions at the back.
