Playmaker to Return Soon
Midfield maestro Alex Russell looks set to be fit for the visit of Tranmere Rovers on Saturday following his first outing since picking up an injury against Sheffield Wednesday on August 14th.Russell managed to complete 60 minutes of the friendly against Team Bath and will be monitored for any problems over the next couple of days. Whether he will be ready for a place in the starting line-up remains to be seen, it is more likely he will come off the bench in the second half to help his match fitness.
United lost the game against Team bath 2-1, with Adebayo Akinfenwa scoring the goal, but the main point of the game was to give players coming back from injury a chance of 90 minutes.
Head Coach Leroy Rosenior said "The main point was to get people a game who needed it, and I was pleased with that.
"Alex hasn't had any reaction, so far. We were keen to get him an hour's play, which he got, and we'll keep an eye on him over the next couple of days."
