Russell refuses to Sign

Torquay United playmaker Alex Russell has refused to negotiate a new contract until United have secured their place in Coca-Cola League One.

Russell has been selected for the Divisional Team of the Year on the last two occasions and is well respected by fellow players and managers. He is clearly the star player of the United set up, and losing him for nothing would be a major disappointment for club and fans alike.

It is claimed that Russell would like to wait until safety is assured so as he doesn't have to drop back down into League Two. Others feel that he may be keeping his options open for a final pay day with a Bosman move.

Losing Russell would mean Leroy Rosenior looking into the transfer market in the summer for a replacement.
