Dutch 'Keeper to Return Home

United 'keeper Arjan van Heusden is set to retire soon, even though he still has a year to run on his contract.

The Dutch stopper is thought to be returning to his native Holland where he will then consider his options.

Manager Leroy Rosenior said. "People may have wondered why I wasn't playing him. But in the short-term he is going to be moving back home.

"But I know he will give 100 per cent for us in the meantime."

This could mean that van Heusden is set to start against Luton Town tomorrow,  our third 'keeper in three games.

United have been trying to secure the services of a loan cover, but clubs are reluctant to loan us any players to avoid them becoming cup-tied. Meanwhile the row over Bertrand Bossu continues with Gillingham wanting United to pay Bossu's wages for the loan period. Gillingham chairman Paul Scally said: "They sent him back but we are waiting for them to pay his salary. We are exceptionally unhappy. We are not aware of any injury and he is training as normal. Their behaviour is atrocious and we will take action."

Torquay chairman Mike Bateson said his club and head coach Leroy Rosenior "have acted in a perfectly reasonable manner."

Bateson added: "I prefer to be guided by our own club medical staff in these matters."

Although Torquay may be totally clear of any blame, it does not bode well when you have these public arguments, especially when you are in the market to acquire some new loanees.
